Welcome to my blog!
I have been an educator since 1990!
Wow, have things changed in the past 23 years. I began as a 6th grade teacher at Shaker Jr High School in Latham, NY. I moved to Forts Ferry Elementary school a year later, where I would teach kids in kindergarten and grades 6, 4, and 5. Along the way I was able to go to Milton Keynes, England to teach as a Fulbright Teacher and work with the National Math and Science Academies through the Michelson Exxon Mobil Academy. Currently, I am working with district teachers to learn the new Common Core State Standards in mathematics and a brand new textbook. I love my time helping teachers to understand all of the possibilities that the new math strategies bring into our students’ world. Plus I am gaining so many terrific resources and ideas to take back to my classroom.
I am relatively new to technology and I can’t wait to try many of the ideas that are put forward by my PLN. My absolute favorite thing to do is to learn something everyday. I know that the world is such an exciting place to be and I can’t wait to find out more about it. As a teacher, I get to bring along on the learning trail so many great kids who are curious and eager to learn about the world around them.
As Mark Twain said there are two great days in your life: the day you were born and the day you discovered why.
What a great day to try something new. Come along with me.
